Flyfishing Report

July 15

We've had some good fishing on the Madison and its dropping daily. The lower river has fished well this past week, with big nymphs, Sculpin, Crayfish patterns and green caddis pupae droppers working well.  The upper river is clear and fishing well. Salmonflies, Golden Stones, Caddis, and several small stoneflies are out and fish are eating all or some, depending on the section that is fished! Streamers always work up here. We'll have great fishing now for a while with water temperatures from the mid-50's to low 60's. Dry fly fishing has steadily improved the past few days-we're in classic summer mode and the fish are looking up!

The Gallatin is clearing and starting to fish well in the Canyon-Golden Stones and Salmonflies near Big Sky. The Yellowstone is dropping fast and fishable, especially above Carbela-Salmonflies up to the Park boundary now! Spring creeks are in great shape with PMD's active each day.

This is our 30th season fishing southwest Montana! Call us or email for more information on our schedule and for more detail on fishing options in the area.
